The Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games (EAG) are coming to town from 5th to 13th December 2009. This is one of Asia's showpiece athletic gatherings featuring top-class athletes from nine participating countries and places: The People's Republic of China, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Hong Kong China, Japan, Korea, Macau China, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei and Guam. More than 3,500 athletes, the largest number of athletes ever to compete in the EAG will compete for 290 Gold medals in a record-breaking 23 sporting events. All told, 21 venues will be used to handle the events. The theme of the Hong Kong 2009 EAG is "Be the Legend" and the friendly mascots who will greet visitors to these Games are called Dony and Ami.


Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games Exhibition Gallery

As a prelude to this major event, visitors can visit a special gallery inside the Sports Centre in Hong Kong Park. The gallery includes an introduction to the evolution of the Olympics, Hall of Champion Exhibition,as well as background information and preparations that have been made for the EAG. Other noteworthy sports collections such as Olympic torches and medals are on display as well. You can also drop by the EAG Souvenir Shop located in the Hong Kong Park Sports Centre and choose from a wide selection of licensed merchandise.
